Welcome campers to THATCamp Wisconsin! We are excited to meet everyone tomorrow.
Please follow @thatcampwi. And feel free to tweet throughout the day using#thatcamp.
When you arrive at the Center for Graduate Studies, head for the lower level. That’s where all the action will take place. Breakfast will be waiting, so grab a coffee and we’ll get started planning our day.
T-shirts will be provided, too. Here’s a peek…
It is almost time! And now it is time for YOU to start engaging!
- Please email Terri at tljohnso_at_carrollu_dot_edu with your preferred t-shirt size (men’s sizes S to XL). We need this information by Monday, July 22, 12p. The t-shirt is free to all attendees.
- Please propose a session topic (click on the “Propose” menu title above, read and scroll down). There are lots of examples listed. Attendees have already proposed topics such as “blogging in the classroom,” or “using digital archives for storytelling.” Our first order of business on August 9th will be to organize these topics, voting on the ones people are most interested in participating.
- How many of you are interested in staying for our “social” at the Chancery at the end of the day? Let us know by commenting. If there are a lot of us, we will reserve a room.
BTW, we will take last minute registrants if you want to tweet out an announcement with the link wisconsin2013.thatcamp.org/. Don’t forget the hashtag #THATCamp.
We look forward to meeting you all.
Your Camper Coordinators –
Tim Galow, John Garrison, Terri Johnson and Phil Krejcarek
Spring has sprung, and summer is at our doorstep. We have a great crop of folks already signed up for Wisconsin THATCamp 2013, including people working in special collections management, IT, digital humanities stewardship, literature, photography, writing, design, undergraduate research, study abroad, and more.
(You may have noticed that we’ve also added a happy hour to polish off our day of un-conferencing.)
If you haven’t yet done so, be sure to register by July 19. If you’ve already registered, be sure to let us know about any topics of particular interest, a learning session you might like to facilitate, or a tool/project/toy/assignment you’d like to share with a group of like-minded attendees.
More soon. In the meantime, keep those cards and letters coming!
It may be the middle of winter, but we are so looking forward to sunshine, warm weather and THATCamp Wisconsin, to be held Friday, August 9, from 8a-4p!
THAT Camp Wisconsin will be at Carroll University’s Center for Graduate Studies in Waukesha, WI. This new, state-of-the-art facility will give us lots of room for break-out sessions, hands-on multimedia work, and professional networking. We’ll also have coffee and pastries in the morning, as well as a catered lunch.
So, let us know if you’ll be coming and start thinking about what you’d like to accomplish while you are with us. We have lots of great ideas, but we want to hear from YOU.
We encourage session proposals around the theme of BIG IDEAS, SMALL CAMPUSES. How can small colleges be more nimble and more innovative than our larger counterparts? How can we create inter-campus networks that leverage pockets of expertise? What activities and applications work particularly well in the small classroom or in small majors? What big idea have you been wanting to tackle but just need a little help (or maybe a little nudge) to get you there?
